What to look for in a good essential oil kit
- Bottle glass color. Real kits use amber or cobalt glass because it blocks UV; clear glass means the oil starts breaking down the day you open the box.
- Latin names on labels. A legitimate bottle lists the plant's Latin binomial (like Lavandula angustifolia), not just 'lavender scent,' which is often a tip-off for a synthetic fragrance oil in disguise.
- Orifice reducer fit. Check the cap insert: a snug, properly seated reducer controls drop size and stops leaks, while loose or missing ones mean oil pools around the cap and evaporates faster.
- Price as a signal. These kits run about $24 to $180 depending on oil count and quality; anything priced well under that is usually cut with carrier oil or synthetic fragrance to hit a lower number.
