What to look for in a good american flag
- Fabric weight and weave. Look for nylon or heavyweight polyester described as 200 denier or higher, since thinner material tears at the fly end in normal wind within a month.
- Stitched, not printed. Stripes should be sewn together and stars embroidered or appliqued, not printed as a single flat image that cracks and fades fast.
- Header and grommets. Check for a canvas header with brass grommets, since flimsy plastic grommets pull loose from the fabric after a few rounds of wind snap.
